Weekly Update-December 15, 2015

Dear Parents, 

Happy SNOW DAY! The next three days hold a lot of excitement. Tomorrow we will have Tara Jensen, an atmospheric scientist from NCAR in Boulder visiting us. Also, tomorrow night is Arts night! Please have your child in our classroom by 6:45 p.m.  Friday morning we will have an all school sing along and then celebrate our class party at 2:30 p.m. 

This week...
  • This week in literacy we are reviewing/wrapping up things we've been studying.   
  • Spelling is on hold until we get back! Enjoy the break.
  • In math, we are working hard on Unit 5: Addition to 200. 
  • In writing, we are working on a narrative about our family traditions.
  • In science, we are continuing our unit in weather. 
  • We are also continuing our study of maps in social studies.

1. Tuesday folders are full of information. Please empty, sign anything applicable, and return asap.

2. Homework folders today have (1) Math practice  (2) MyOn Reading Challenge (Blue) (3) December reading log

December 16 Arts Night for Grades PreK-2 (starting at 5:30)
December 17 Choir performs at the Rotary Club
December 18 Last Day before winter break/Christmas Party at 2:30 p.m.
December 21 January 2nd Winter Break
Monday, January 4: Homework due
January 4 Preschool Registration begins
January 18 No School - Dr. King's Birthday
January 21 Principal Cafe at 6:30 pm 

  •  MyOn reading challenge!! Please have your children read during Christmas break. Our goal is to have each student read 130 minutes. 
  • Canned Food Drive - We are very excited to announce that St. Vrain Valley Schools will once again participate in our Annual Food Drive. They will accept any non-perishable items along with cash donations. Donations will be picked up on December 17th starting at 8:00 a.m. that morning.  
  •  Library books are due on Mondays!
