End of the School Year: May 24, 2016

Dear Parents,

I can't thank you enough for all the support and encouragement you have given me this year. The community at Hygiene is truly an example of teamwork between parents, students, and teachers. I am grateful to be a part of such a special community. 

I hope you all have a beautiful summer! I look forward to seeing how my students grow and continue on to 3rd grade. I am proud of all the hard work they've put in and I can say with confidence that they are ready for next year. 

EOY Party: We will have a relaxed end of the year party today Tuesday, May 24th at 2:45. If you would like to bring any snacks or drinks please email me. We will clean out desk, take things home, and just hangout. 

LAST DAY GAMES FESTIVAL AND FAMILY PICNIC:  Wednesday, May 25th is the last day of school and our all school Games Festival Day, 9:30-11:30.  Parents are welcome to come and watch.  Please make sure your students come dressed appropriately with running shoes, water bottle and sunscreen.  At 11:30 students will return to their classroom to clean up and say their goodbyes.  The family picnic will begin at 12:15 on the south side of campus in the Hug and Go area.  Fifth graders will perform and the Pluto time capsule will be capped.  Parents need to sign their students out with the teacher before going to the picnic.

  • 11:30-12:15   Classroom clean up and goodbyes
  • 12:15 - Family Picnic (south side of campus in Hug n Go)
  • 12:30 - 5th Grade performs and Pluto Time Capsule will be capped
KONA ICE COMING TO THE FAMILY PICNIC!  This year we have Kona Ice scheduled to be at our annual Family Picnic.  They will be set up in the Hug n Go area.  The prices are:  $3, $4, and $5.

Weekly Update-May 17, 2016

Dear Parents,

We are into our last full week of school! I can't believe it is almost over. This week we are doing a lot of reviewing and wrapping up some of our units. We are done with end of the year testing and I am very proud of the students for working hard this year and giving their best effort! The children enjoyed having their pajama day and watching "Because of Winn Dixie"  Thank you for giving permission to participate. It was very special for those who had read the book. 

Move Up Day: On May 20th all Hygiene students will meet their next year's teachers. Parents, you will receive notification on Tuesday, May 17th on your child's teacher for next year. Parents, you will meet your child's teacher next fall at Open House, August 15th.

  • Spelling- we will be reviewing for a spelling benchmark.

  • In science, we are wrapping up our unit on plants and animals. 
  • We are studying economics in social studies.

Dear Parents,

Thank you all so much for your gifts, support, and encouragement during Teacher Appreciation week! Your support has helped carry me through this school year. I am full of gratitude for the Hygiene community and so thankful that I get to be a part of it. THANK YOU!

Tomorrow we are fortunate to have marine scientist coming in from the Ocean First Institute to give a presentation on Sea Turtles to help support our last Design Thinking Challenge of the year!

Move Up Day: On May 20th all Hygiene students will meet their next year's teachers. Parents, you will receive notification on Tuesday, May 17th on your child's teacher for next year. Parents, you will meet your child's teacher next fall at Open House, August 15th.

  • Spelling- we will be reviewing our spelling rules the next 3 weeks so there will be no list coming home today.

  • In science, we are studying our unit on plants and animals. 
  • We are studying economics in social studies.

Dear Parents,

I hope you are having a good week! Please know that starting this week your children will begin their last round of iReady testing before heading into 3rd grade. With the testing we are going to have a little bit less homework.

We are going on field trip to Sunflower Farm on Monday, May 2nd from 9:15-12:15. I sent home yellow permission forms. Please return them with the payment ($9) attached by TOMORROW Wednesday, April 27th.  We are welcoming parents to come with us as chaperones. If you would like to come please mark the permission sheet.

  • Spelling this multi-syllable words with long/short e. 
  • In math, we are beginning triple digit subtraction.
